The objective of the project is to create a new station for Orense, celebrating the arrival of the AVE high-speed train, while at the same time providing the best possible intermodal exchange between different means of transport: trains, buses, taxis, and private vehicles as well as passengers arriving on foot or by bicycle.
The resulting solution generates a series of terraces that appear to emerge from the Avenida de Marin, thus meeting the project requirements by defining a series of platforms that host the various components of the brief, namely parking, bus station, taxi area, train station, and the plaza. The interrelationship between these areas articulates not only the inter-connectivity of different means of transport in a physical and formal sense, but also the relationship between the station and the city.
