The introduction of the high-speed railway line to La Coruña presented a magnificent opportunity to reconfigure a whole new railway concept. The New Intermodal Station of San Cristóbal will respond to the needs of both citizens and travelers as well connections and operations.
The tender proposal includes the following main objectives:
This architectural response gives an elegant and coherent solution to the urban, aesthetic and functional challenges through a large intermodal lobby. It becomes a node where the connections take place between the different means of transport: trains, buses, taxis, metro, bicycles, cars, and pedestrians. Turning this space into a dynamic, functional, and fluid place, respectful of the old canopy and the pre-existence of the old railway building.
