Like a tree, the garden-hotel in Plaza de España behaves in an organic way and grows naturally between its dividing walls, searching for light and orientation. Following a careful study of the sun path, prevailing winds, views, and functional plan, and in order to avoid islands of heat while enhancing the cross views, the forecourt communicates with both facades through fissures, which creates a wealth of volume that houses plants and gardens, in keeping with the “orchard” concept envisioned for this building.
This tree-shaped structure provides gardens at various heights, introducing nature into the building, making the building more friendly, and contributing to cross ventilation and comfort inside. At the same time, it provides unique views of the city from the interior areas of the building that otherwise wouldn’t be possible.
A flexible proposal that allows the coexistence and conversion of different uses, including a 190-room hotel, a roof terrace with an infinity pool and a leisure space for use 24 hours a day, SPA, parking, as well as 1,000 m2 of office space all with independent access.
The situation of the hotel within its surroundings gives it, on the one hand, an iconic character thanks to its geometric and physical distinctiveness, and on the other hand it is the final piece of the urban puzzle that gives unity to the Plaza de España while maintaining the scale of the buildings that surround it.
This distinctive hotel fits perfectly in Plaza de España, unifying the scale of the buildings in the square
