Upgrade of NH Alcalá Hotel

NH is a large Spanish hotel chain specialized in 4-star city hotels with an average stay of less than two nights. The brief was to renew the interior design of the rooms, towards a more modern concept.

luis vidal + architects gave several proposals:

  • Image: Visually seamless furniture ensembles adjust to the limits of the rooms, giving a simple design response that integrates the open wardrobe, a good-sized suitcase stand and a desk. Wooden floors, as opposed to carpets, are proposed for easy cleaning and a better look.
  • Modular furniture: Careful use of modular furniture elements makes it easy to implement the system throughout all NH hotel buildings.
  • Introduction of Art: Incorporation of the concept of an Art Promenade that would start in the public areas and finish in the rooms to visually connect the new concept with the rest of the hotel facilities.

The vision of the client evolved into a more conventional solution, which is the one that luis vidal + architects ended up incorporating into the NH Alcalá Hotel in Madrid. The production of all the drawings and documents for construction was done, and the work was supervised until its completion.
