The Matta Sur Community Health Centre project looks at in the intervention, rehabilitation, and restoration of the heritage building that housed the old “Liceo Metropolitano”. In addition to the rehabilitation of the old High School, the project proposes the construction in its courtyard of a new building that will function as a CESFAM Family Health Center for around 30,000 users. In this way, luis vidal + architects gets to combine, in a single project, some of its fields of expertise: the rehabilitation and conservation of heritage, and the design of hospitals of the future, proposing models that stand out for their innovation and functionality.
The project aims not only to meet the requirements of means and facilities to enrich the public spaces, but to be part of a larger picture regarding the historic conservation that is important to the neighborhood and its culture, improving both social relations and citizen participation.
Restoring the 120-year-old building of the Liceo Metropolitano, always dedicated to public education since its inception, will be of great significance to the neighborhood’s identity, valuing its history, the land, and its people.
With the construction of the future CESFAM, luis vidal + architects seeks to revive a heritage asset, opening it to the community and transforming it into a Health benchmark.
