The project of the Community Health Centre of Matta Sur consists on the intervention, rehabilitation and restoration of the heritage building that housed the old “Liceo Metropolitano”. In addition to the rehabilitation of the old Highschool the project proposes the construction in its courtyard of a new building that will function as a CESFAM Family Health Center for around 30,000 users. Doing this, luis vidal + architects manages to combine in one project two of their fields of specialization: the rehabilitation and conservation of heritage and the design of hospitals of the future, proposing models that stand out for their innovation and functionality.
The project aims not only to meet the requirements of equipment to improve the public spaces, but to be part of a larger picture regarding the historic preservation to the neighborhood and its culture. Improving both social relations and citizen participation.
Restoring as a patrimonial value available for the “Ex Liceo Metropolitano” community, the 120-year-old building always has been dedicated to education since its beginning, grants a deeply importance to the neighborhood’s identity, valuing its history, territory and people.
With the construction of the future CESFAM, luis vidal + architects seeks to reactivate a capital asset opening it to the community and transforming it into a health benchmark.
