In a unique space and a privileged environment in the bay of Santander, the Botín Centre, of which luis vidal + architects is the co-author of the design together with RPBW, has just been inaugurated.
From the very start, the project was designed to become one of the reference art centers in Europe, with an educational and artistic style that will contribute to generating economic, cultural and social wealth.
The building, assembled in two volumes, is raised high above the ground. It frames spectacular views of Santander and the bay, while being covered by a ceramic coating of 270,000 ceramic discs that reflect the changing colors of the sea and the sky.
luis vidal + architects believes in architecture as a dialogue and social union. The Botín Centre reflects this as a space for art, culture and training activity, generating a new meeting place and dialogue with citizens, and presenting itself as the new highlight of the city.
The exhibition of Botín Centre will house collections of Carsten Höller, 80 drawings by Goya which are from the permanent collection of Fundación Botín, and a permanent sculpture by Cristina Iglesias.
