The new Terminal 2 swept the board at the annual Lighting Design Awards. These Awards recognize innovation and creativity in lighting. The awards received were:
• Public Building project of the year – for the LED ceiling lighting used in association with the natural light from the north facing roof windows.
• Daylight project of the year – for the north facing roof lighting, using natural light whenever possible.
• Special lighting project of the year for the Seafood bar – described as ‘beautiful’ by the judges.
• Client of the Year.
The Lighting Design Awards are judged by some of the most experienced, knowledgeable and authoritative individuals in the lighting industry. The jury recognized Studio Fractal for their excellent work on the artificial lighting solution and Hoare Lea for the daylight design.
These awards are the latest in a series for Heathrow Terminal 2 as The Queen’s Terminal recently won other accolades and nominations, including “Airport of the year” and “World Best International Public Architecture”.
