Sustainable Façades

Project awarded in order to research and develop new sustainable and low-cost façades.

The research was held by three main subjects:

Improvement of materials: both in its components and its uses, studying the manufacturing process, uses and final purpose.

Study of new materials: search of a new material developed with sustainable criteria such as bamboo, canvas, fiber textiles or duralmond.

Incorporation of active/passive systems into façades: considering the façade as a complex system that can be affected by a dynamic process, providing it with the capacity of responding to external factors.

Finalist at 2009 Sacyr Awards, Environmental Innovation Category.

Sustainable criteria for material selection such as bamboo, hemp and textile fibers.
